This publication was made on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Wim Delvoye’ at Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf (February 2002), Porin Taidemuseo, Pori (May 2002); and Musée d’Art Contemporain, Lyon (May 22 – August 10, 2003). The catalogue gives a panoramic view of the diverse work of Wim Delvoye (° 1965) from the mid-eighties till 2001. His work is characterised by the ironic way in which he mingles high and low culture. Fascinated by the banality and the disgraceful he likes to provoke the audience. Combining this banality with his interest in traditional handicraft, Delvoye tries to translate the old urge for perfection to a contemporary context.
